There's nothing on my horizon except everything. Everything is on my horizon | Day 11 of 90

I'm trying to make my goals for 2025 more interesting and more personal to me, so I'll start by keep them small and expanding them later on in the year.

PERSONAL FITNESS

1. Go to the Sauna in the morning or on cold days when I don't have pickleball.

I have 3 weeks left on my gym membership and need to find a new gym as well, so that's something on the to do list for this month. This is also something I really enjoy that I don't do often enough, so I want to think about what a potential trigger might be for me to do this, maybe just cold weather?

2. Play pickleball once a week with friends and with Frank.

I wasn't as consistent in December, but am planning on playing lots of pickleball with Frank before he starts working.

Starting with this Thursday 1/2 and hopefully at open gym, once they start posting.

3. Start Stepbet and "walk" 12 miles a day (including cycling).

I have been dragging my feet with starting a walking challenge and I haven't using my treadmill yet either. So I'll be starting that this month finally, and will achieve my goal in 141 days!

4. Plan 1 hike a month to prepare for Machu Picchu

-Did a 7 mile hike in Pasadena

-Did a 3 mile hike in Thousand Oaks

-Did lots of walking in Germany, though not many hikes

-Planned a hike to Vazquez Rocks for January!

5. Complete 3 Stepbets (8-10k steps a day)

-I did it! Joining 3 more hikes starting on January 1!

5. Complete 3 more Stepbets (8-10k steps a day)

6. Walk for 1 hour a day and bike for 1 hour a day

This month, I will be focusing on audiobooks to listen to while I walk and bike! I am starting my Lord of the Rings walking challenge again this month!

WRITING and reading

7. Finish 1 book a month

I’m currently reading:

"Outlive” by Peter Attia and Bill Gifford
"ADHD is Awesome" by Penn Holderness
"Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring" by JRR Tolkien
"Trusting God" by Jerry Bridges

Books read in 2024 include:

  1. Ultra Processed People
  2. The Willpower Instinct
  3. God on Mute
  4. Zodiac Academy Book 9
I didn't get to read in Germany as much as I would have liked so I will make this a big goal for January, by listening to audiobooks while I walk and cycle!

8. Write a blog post everyday so I get in the habit of writing.

This has been tough! But I'm thankful for the challenge.

9. Finish the New Testament

Fell behind on this project as well but want to restart while knitting.

HOME

10. Clean and declutter for 15 minutes a day

The goal:

  1. Consign and donate clothes in donate bin
  2. Donate anything no longer wanted
  3. Store things we're keeping in an organized and logical manner
My previous goal of organizing different rooms was a bit too general so I am planning on making my goals much more palatable and simpler.

11. Pan 2 lipsticks

I finished one last year and my goal is to finish two this year, a balm and a mini lip gloss. Here's to hoping I don't lose it!

12. Pan a blush

I will keep working on this one but I think I can do it this year

13. Pan a perfume

I'm looking at you Vanillary!

FAMILY/FRIENDS

14. Plan our 2025 trips

Our Maine/main trip in January is already underway, just need to buy the plane tickets. I also need to buy my plane tickets for Florida for conference.

We may possibly go to Kentucky in July and a trip in December! This year will mostly be local or domestic trips to San Diego and possibly Yosemite.

15. Cook a new recipe once a week (and write about it)

In an attempt to stop eating out as often, I tried to limit the number of times we ate out, but that didn't work.

So to do something a little more fun and to finally use some of the recipes I've been saving on instagram for years, I'm going to work on a new recipe a week and plan out which one it will be!

This week I'm working on a focaccia recipe using pizza dough and a pasta dish with roasted garlic!

16. Take a Glass fusing class

At the Christmas markets, I saw this incredible booth where a woman fused glass and created amazing pieces of jewelry and I was so inspired to learn! I bought a ring but would love to make some pieces of my own one day.

17. Post my progress regarding these resolutions on this blog on the first day of every month.
